M Is For MAGICAL

Many moons ago when I was into the whole ‘Law of Attraction’ path I had this dream of opening my own new-age, hippy-type shop and I decided it would be called MAGIC HAPPENS. I had seen bumper stickers like this when I travelled around Australia in my year out after University. The Law of Attraction back then made everything magical to me, for I believed magic lay in the dreams and desires of my future inspired thinking. I thought (much like the move ‘The Secret’) I could sit on my sofa dreaming up what I wanted and pluck it out of thin air.

On my lunch breaks at a job I no longer enjoyed, I would sit in a cafe day-dreaming my life away. I would imagine I was in New Zealand travelling the country. I even imagined the coffee I was drinking was in New Zealand and the ground I walked on was New Zealand. And yes, while this all was so magical it took me away from the present moment. I lived more for a perceived magic in the future and did not notice the magic all around me.

Now I am more grounded than I ever was before, preferring to stay in the present moment and be more mindful of my surroundings, discovering the magic and beauty all around me and within me right now.

Magic is all around us and through my exploration in the realms of psychic development, Shamanism and my earlier interests of Paganism, I saw many things that could be seen as magical and unreal, the sort of things in movies. Now it feels more ordinary, more real, but I can see that to anyone else it would be so new and magical.

MAGICAL TIMES in Australia

At the beginning of my spiritual journey I was introduced to healing energy, primarily that of Reiki healing and also was taken out one evening by a fairly mystical new friend called Melinda. Melinda was a Bowen therapist and Reiki practitioner, but I was to later find out she channelled and spoke to angels. That evening she took me to this village hall up in the rainforest in Australia near Melbourne and we sat down in a semi-circle around this single chair. A woman entered and sat down; she said she would be opening to channel soon. At the time I had no idea about channelling apart from scenes with Patrick Swayze in the movie ‘Ghost’ and so I sat there eagerly anticipating what was to come.

As she closed her eyes I noticed her face began to change. I thought it was me at first, but my friend Melinda nodded. Her face changed so dramatically. It was as if super-imposed over her female face was that of a man, a very clear man. She then began to speak and move and she did so with the energy of a man.

Over the course of the evening she/he spoke in a way that gave me goosebumps. He spoke with such love and reverence that I was blown away. He talked about things that would happen and predicted what would happen to my friend and I in her car going home. He told us we would be cut off on the motorway and described the colour of the car and the make of car that would do this. That evening my life began to change. My eyes were wide open now.

MAGICAL LIGHT

During my year in Australia I had many magical experiences. I was attuned into Reiki by a German lady I met in a market. She attuned me against a tree in the botanical gardens. Without a word of a lie as she placed her hands on my head to open me up so that I could be a channel for healing I felt myself fall through the earth, through the tree. I felt such a deep connection to the earth energy.

On another trip in Oz I was reading a book on a coach and was feeling quite low, I was reading a book called the Celestine Prophecy which talks about the magical way of life and how we meet and connect with people on our paths. The coach stopped at a service station that had a restaurant and cafe and I queued up for some food. At the time I was wearing a pink rose quartz necklace I had bought and a rather attractive man came up to me. He pointed at my rose quartz necklace and said ‘rose quartz – self love’ and then said ‘you do Reiki’. I was flabbergasted, how did he know? He told me he had been told he was going to meet a very interesting lady and we were going to chat.

I was blushing as had not had such attention before from a guy and I followed him to a seat and we spent only 20 minutes together chatting. He was talking about another healing technique called NLP and he held my hands. His name was Rodney and he was travelling home (he was Australian). As we parted my energy was high so very high, we hugged and I could have quite easily kissed him. We left on different coachs and never saw each other again. I do sometimes wonder, was he human? Or was he an angel sent to keep me on my spiritual awakening path back then?

So many things like this happened when I was travelling and when I returned I was attuned into Reiki 2.  One evening I sat in my bedroom in my parents’ home and began to send distant healing to someone. I had my eyes wide open and was looking into my room. As I sent the healing I saw a bright magenta pink light appear in front of me and a blue light also. This has happened a lot over my life since then and I now think of it as normal. Magic is real when we open up our senses.

ENLIGHTENED PEOPLE as CATALYSTS

There are a few people on this planet who act as catalysts for real change. These people came into this lifetime never losing their connection to the magic in all that is. They are able to view other people as themselves and never seeing the separation. I have met two of these people, one is called Mother Amma and the other is called Mother Meera. Both of these women share something called Darshan with their followers and impart and open an energy of wholeness to those who are ready.

When I first met Mother Amma she was visiting London and I had no idea what to expect. Mother Amma is known as the hugging saint and travels the world hugging people and transmitting the energy of the divine. As I kneeled in front of her waiting my turn for my hug I was nervous, how do you hug someone who hugs all the time? It was finally my turn and she pulled me into her bosom.  She then whispered into my ear something in a language I did not know. What happened next was similar to my Reiki experience, as she whispered into my ear I felt myself fall, I felt my body disappear and I was suddenly among the stars in the cosmos. I was the cosmos. As she finished my embrace I stumbled away from her and sat on the floor nearby with my jaw wide open. She had turned a lock inside of me to begin the process of fuller awakening to who I really am.

Mother Meera is someone I met this year and instead of hugs she touches your head while she works on any blockages and you then lean back while she gazes into your eyes and works on any personality issues that may be holding you back. Her hands were burning hot and I felt very seen. As I sat back in my seat I found it hard to keep my eyes open, I felt very relaxed and one with everyone in the room.

These people are often called Avatars.

SO MUCH MAGIC

As you can see there is a lot of magic in this world. These are only a few of the experiences I have had in my life so far, but the biggest magic comes from within us, as we breathe, love, witness a bird singing, watch clouds move across the sky, all magical, all amazing.
