Can You Get Rich By Visualising Wealth?

So is visualising a money plant an easy way to manifest wealth?

If you type into Google ‘get rich quick’, you will find millions of pages on ways to get rich. From investments, to pyramid schemes, to buying stock and shares and finally to the new craze sweeping the world – ‘The Law Of Attraction’. Some of the Law of Attraction teachers claim that if you get in the zone, and visualise what you want, that you can have it – but what if not having it is how your soul evolves and grows?

What if poverty and the fear of being poor is where your greatest wealth and understanding lies?

I imagine this is not exactly what you want to hear. Am I right? Or maybe you are ready to hear it.

I know I didn’t want to hear this a few years ago. I wanted more money and I was prepared to practice all the Law of Attraction techniques I could find for several years to get more money, but not once, back then, did I ask what do I ‘need’ right now? And what is driving this need for money?

FEAR

“Some people evolve much better in poverty. They will move when in extremity, but do nothing when things are pleasant. Understand the problems that are there and use them for your spiritual unfoldment. If you want prosperity, then go for that. But if your deep self knows that you will learn more from poverty, then you will again be in poverty.”

~ Bartholomew ‘I Come As A Brother’ by Mary-Margaret Moore ~

This is not to say your soul will always choose poverty, or that poverty is your lot in life, because if you are reading this you may well be on the road to mastering your fear.

Ask yourself why you want to be rich or wealthy?
Ask if fear is behind the desire?

Do you fear being poor and why?
Can you begin to feel that fear instead of trying to push it away?

Begin to befriend this fear.

Money Has Not Come Easy To Me

Money hasn’t come easy to me so far and I used to swear and cuss and feel anger about this. I resented those who had money and who didn’t value it. I can now see what a gift I gave to myself. And Bartholomew is right – with riches and wealth in my earlier years, I would not be the person I am today.

When life is not a bed of roses, you question why? And all those ‘whys’ led me back home, to me, my inner being. I am slowly recognising that more money would never have given me what I wanted, for if I couldn’t be happy without money how could I ever be happy with it?

Studies On Wealthy People & Empathy

Studies have shown that people who have increased riches and wealth are less empathic. A number of studies have shown that how they relate socially is quite different from those who may be poorer or living in poverty. In How Wealth Reduces Compassion it talks about how wealthy people are less likely to show compassion or even notice when people need help in comparison to those less affluent people.

I can see that unless someone had delved into their pain and suffering before amassing wealth, that they could lose their connection to their heart and to the source within us all.

Riches Without Wisdom

With lots of money, but no wisdom and little empathy, you could lose yourself in the distraction of a world that had become just a great consumer shopping mall. You could spend an entire lifetime filling yourself up with extravagance and ‘stuff’

Having riches without wisdom can be a very empty life. The continuous need for ‘more’ just to feel something inside, the need to protect wealth because of not having dealt with the fear of poverty in the past, is not a direction I want to go in, do you?

Now, I’m not dismissing wealth, I would still like more money. I have things I would like to do in life that I’m currently unable to do, but I know now that having little is making me face my fears about money.  I want to make fear my friend, not my enemy.

But What If There Is Another Way?

For me, it has been essential to embrace the moment, to accept and welcome what is. We can fight tooth and nail against our circumstances but eventually we need to face them.

My facing them has enabled me to really value the little things, those things perhaps a wealthy person may not be able to value.

What do I value?

  • Being able to buy 1 cup of coffee a week in a cafe.
  • Blue sky, clouds, hills, trees, fields.
  • A good book.
  • Birds singing.
  • Being able to eat.
  • A roof over my head.
  • Hugs and love.
  • My sense of humour.
  • Time alone.
  • Bees & flowers.
  • People.
  • Beautiful doors.
These are only a small number of things I really value on a regular basis. Would I value these things if I’d had money in my twenties? Probably not. If you have a lot of something you can lose the magic of it.

So What Is My Fear Now?

For me I am making friends with my fear and I know that as I integrate, absorb and befriend my feelings I will no longer need the fear.

Money fears differ from person-to-person, for example:

  1. Fear of dying and being homeless.
  2. Fear of what people think.
  3. Fear of becoming a bad person.
  4. Fear of change.
  5. Fear of loss.
  6. Fear of rejection (losing friends and family once rich).
  7. Fear of being alone
For me there is an actual fear of money.

A fear that great wealth will turn me into an unfeeling, uncaring and mean person. I have countless memories of family beliefs that rich people are greedy, rich people are mean and rich people are stingy and look down on others.

And funnily enough I know and have met people just like this, people with large stashes of money or good incomes who are stingy, who lack empathy and are rather greedy and less giving.

So addressing this fear I asked myself if it went deeper and it does. I do believe we live many lifetimes, all running along parallel lines to this life in many a sense. I had this memory of being a slave and those in charge were wealthy, mean and abusive. They beat, raped and murdered the slaves they owned. So the feeling of ‘money being bad’ came from my interpretation that people with money are bad people.

I now realise that it’s not money that’s bad, but that people just make different choices and it’s not the money, it’s the ego choices humans make.

So now I can embrace and face this fear.

Will I become mean, unfeeling and a greedy murderer if I get rich? I sure hope not, but it’s good to gain a deeper understanding of this fear now so that I can heal.

What Do People Do Who Have This Fear?

Well, if you have a similar fear, you will either have very little money or when you do receive money you will dispose of it as quickly as possible. This is because to you, money is dirty and people who have it are not good people, and so as you are not a bad person you will let it go quickly.

Becoming more conscious of your fears is important.

This is not necessarily the key to great riches, but to a greater sense of relief. And it is possible, change in this area.

Money/energy has been greatly misused by some people and it can be hard to not have a feeling of 'lots of money would corrupt me'. I don't really know where my 'money journey' will take me. But it's good that you're taking the time to explore your feelings about this subject 🙂

We are taught that in order to be highly successful materially, we must push with an almost ANGRY determination. Push past the feelings of rejection when disinterest is shown in our products or services. Push past the pain of months of trying hard and not making ends meet as businesses are grown. Push past the many other obstacles that will present themselves as material success is sought. When material success is eventually attained under these circumstances, the one whom it comes to will display haughtiness, lack of empathy, greed, fear of losing the money etc because of all the emotional strain they went through to get there. I feel that money should be sought in a spirit of love, gratitude, positive emotions, inspired action, visualisation, being true to oneself, an honest connection with God / Source so that when it does eventually come, it’ll find a person with a heart filled with gratitude and love.

So true Michelle, love your observations. I agree if the heart is closed and money comes, it does often reflect someone who holds onto money in an almost frightened way. A heart filled with gratitude and love and money perfect balance!
