Healthy Frozen Chocolate Yoghurt Recipe

Healthy Frozen Chocolate Yoghurt Recipe

I think I’ve only ever had frozen yoghurt once, in Australia over 13 years ago and had totally forgotten what it tastes like. I also think it freezes differently to ice-cream (either that or I am not doing it correctly).

Anyway, here is a quick and easy frozen yoghurt recipe borrowed from SUGAR-FREE MOM’s site. I highly recommend you take a visit to this site, it’s full of so many great recipes when you are on a sugar-free path or simply taking a sugar detox.
This can be made in a matter of minutes. You don’t need an ice-cream maker but it is useful.

INGREDIENTS

2 bananas (I used 4 small bananas)

1 cup of full fat Greek Yoghurt (I used Yeo Valley utterly creamy yummy yoghurt)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (add half first and see if you like it and continue to add if you want the full teaspoon).

3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder (I used raw cacao from The Raw Chocolate Company)

1 teaspoon of Chocolate Liquid Stevia* ( I used Sweetleaf from the Raw Living Site Here
*I highly recommend you add this drop by drop
– one teaspoon was too strong for me so I only added 4 drops.

I did not try but you could probably use honey or any other type of sweetener if you don’t have stevia. Simply add and taste to get the balance right

Equipment Needed

You will need an ice-cream scoop and ice-lolly moulds if you wish to make ice-lollies.

Optional : Food processor and Ice-cream maker.

This is so easy.

Instructions

  • All you need to do is mash the bananas until smooth.
  • Add the mashed banana and all the other ingredients together either in a food processor or do this by hand.
  • Once fully mixed put into a freezable container (or add to an ice-cream maker and follow the instructions).
  • Place in freezer for 45 minutes (I put mine in for 1 hour 15 minutes and this probably was not long enough for the yoghurt in my container).
  • Once out you can eat it straight away, or add some lovely toppings. I added dessicated coconut. The remainder can be put in ice-lolly moulds and put back into the freezer. Takes 3-4 hours to fully freeze.

Ta da ! All done.
Next time must try another flavour.
This is creamy and rather yummy!

Ticks all the boxes on a hot sunny day and the ice-pops
will be great for children and adults that need that frozen treat in the summer.
