Feeling Seen & Feeling Heard

A lot of people walk this world feeling invisible. Some use cries for attention through speaking loudly, some boast about their lives, and a silent few simply walk, feeling alone, unheard and desiring true connection and recognition.

What many people may fail to realise is that everyone wants to be seen, everyone wants to be heard and everyone wants to feel recognised and loved for who they are.

My own experience has been an inner wrestling match between a need to be seen and not be invisible and a need to remain hidden. And I wonder do others experience this also?

How many creative and talented people hide their light because the voice that is scared to be seen is louder than the voice that wants to shine?

There comes a time in our lives where remaining where we are, doing the same things, is no longer comfortable and an inner roar begins to rattle through our entire being. It feels like a scream for escape, or like a champagne bottle that has been shaken so forcefully that the bubbles are ready to blow the cork out, but the cork remains inside the bottle.

This can feel as if suddenly our usual life routine feels unbearable. Relationships, jobs, family life, all begin to feel like a cage we want to break free from. And this is not a bad thing.

When our lives begin to feel this way it means we are coming close to breaking out of the shell of the invisible.

The fight takes place inside because the ego both yearns for visibility and attention and the inner child desires it too, but also fears it. To be seen means a huge change! Our shining in this world means our essential nature, our authentic selves, will be out there for all to see. The ego says:

“What if no-one likes the real me?”
“What if I am not talented and have nothing to offer?”
“What if, what if, what if…..” this can go on forever.

But you can’t remain the same, just as you cannot stop a plant pushing up through the soil to reveal its beautiful splendour to this world.

You are as important as that plant, as that flower. There comes a time when that seed within you is ready to grow, and it no longer wishes to remain beneath the earth anymore. It is time, your essential nature is ready to be seen.

Welcome this..
