A lovely selection of products from the ethical Exotic Paper Company

Okay so I hold nothing back when I say I love nature, I love animals and I love elephants, so what on earth is Ellie Poo?

About The Exotic Paper Company
Ellie Poo is one of many products from a fabulous company called ‘The Exotic Paper Company’ based outside Taunton, UK. A small family business which specialises in supplying 100% recycled paper products and poo planters. The paper often has their special ingredients added like ellie poo, rhino poo, reindeer poo, grass, denim, banana, etc.

Exactly what it says on the label. And don’t worry, it does not smell pooey.

I love this company. They have a great ethos and nothing makes me feel more passionate about a company than doing good for this Planet Earth. So for day 7 of my ’12 Days of Christmas Give-Away’ I contacted The Exotic Paper Company  as I wanted to experience their products for myself. And they were kind enough to offer a Ellie Poo gift set for one lucky winner.

‘The Exotic Paper Company’ supports the conservation of elephants which are often worked until they are of no use anymore, or reach old age and are discarded. They support The Millennium Foundation in Sri Lanka which then looks after them. As man is chopping down trees to make room for houses and crops, elephants’ habitat for food is reducing, so they tend to raid farmers’ crops to survive, which can destroy the farmers’ harvests. Because of this they are often seen as pests and killed or injured, along with Rhinos which are hunted. ‘The Exotic Paper Company’ uses a portion of the elephant dung and rhino dung to make their paper products.

Purchasing recycled paper can support our ecosystem by not increasing the surplus waste on this planet and not destroying the trees that are the lungs of this planet.

One misconception about recycled paper is that some people think it actually costs more to recycle, but The Exotic Paper Company say this is simply not true.

It takes about 50% of the total energy to produce recycled paper rather than pulping wood. The paper production is the same for ‘new’ paper as it is for ‘recycled’ paper therefore, the quality is the same. ~The Exotic Paper Company

A great gift for an artist or a child.
This paper is really great quality, nice and thick.
No run-through when writing. Great for notes or writing a journal

The Exotic Paper Company have also developed other poo papers including Rhino poo and Reindeer poo paper. They specifically choose animals that are herbivores because basically

“half-chewed rotting meat wouldn’t make great paper and also the bugs and nasties involved would make cleaning the poo too complicated.”

Christmas gifts with a difference!

“Our speciality reindeer poo paper is a handmade paper that contains Christmas tree seeds which will grow.  Fun and novel and very popular”.

Cute little gift for an adult to grow a Christmas
tree or a child learning about gardening.

Now you may think, The Exotic Paper Company is just about poo paper, but you’d be mistaken. They also make a beautiful selection of papers that are perfect for wedding invitations, gift bags, special announcements and much, much more.

This is the first time I have come across a paper that actually grows too. I love the idea of growable paper, not only is the paper useful, and recycled, but you get to plant beautiful wild flowers as well. What a great eco-friendly idea and I am a big advocate of encouraging bees and butterflies into our gardens through having wild gardens.

“We even supply handmade growable paper which can then be planted by your guests to produce an abundance of wildflowers.”

I love the idea of growable paper. No more waste
and stationary can turn into beautiful wildflowers.

I love to write and even though we have computerised writing tools you cannot beat paper to write on. I love to support the planet and ‘The Exotic Paper Company’ does just that.  If you like what you see here, pop over to their site and also enter the give-away below to experience them for yourself.
