Review: WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Stag Tote Bag & Elephant Mug (Competition Ended)

WWF Seasons Greetings Tiger Rhinoceros
Supporting The WWF At Christmas Is A Really Rewarding Gift To Someone

It breaks my heart when I hear on the news the list of animals nearing extinction, and more recently I was shocked to hear that our beautiful elephants, rhinos and Siberian tigers were added to the list. To me we do not own this planet, we are here to be loving guardians of planet earth. Not here to ruin it or to kill animals into extinction for our own personal needs. So for this review and give-away I introduce an organisation close to my heart – The WWF – World Wildlife Fund for Nature..

If you could give one gift this Christmas, to me you could not give a better gift than adopting a beautiful animal, or joining the WWF. I know that generations to come would appreciate being able to see the animals we adore now in their lifetime. I won’t go into the gruesome aspects of what is happening across the world in the poaching trade as it is well documented, but I am sure many of you reading this will now know. What I want to do is share what is so great about the WWF and also the range of products you can buy for Christmas that will support the declining animal populations. We can all buy cute gifts at Christmas, but what better cause for a cute gift than to act as a true guardian of planet earth. Children will love to hear all about their gift and to know they are supporting animals still existing today. I would like to see the elephant, rhino and Siberian tiger around for years to come (along with countless others) instead of in a museum where the next generation bear witness to the loss that can be prevented. I for one want to be part of that, do you?

So who are the WWF?

About the WWF
Starting in 1961 the WWF was well known for its pioneering work to save and protect iconic wildlife like tigers, whales, pandas and rhinos and they have achieved a lot since then. But they do so much more.

Their ultimate goal is:

“people living in harmony with nature”

They want people to respect and value the natural world and find ways to share the earth’s resources fairly. They do this by working a lot with communities, politicians and businesses. They need to work together with these groups because most of the threats to wildlife and habitats come from human pressures and the increasing demand for food, fuel or water.

Challenging themselves to 6 BIG WINS they aim to achieve these and other challenges by 2018.

These include:

 1. Wildlife restored (continued safeguarding of the populations of 10 of the worlds most iconic and threatened species).

2. Forests and oceans sustained (continue to increase the area of forests and oceans effectively managed and protected).

3. Rivers flowing (continue to secure or improve the flow of 4 of the worlds great rivers and also making sure UK rivers are restored).

4. Sustainable timber and seafood traded (To continue to radically change the timber and seafood sectors in the UK).

5. Carbon Emissions reduced (To continue to press for strong climate targets and work with WWF network to reduce carbon emissions in major new economies).

6. Valuing nature (Ensure that the true values of nature is reflected in political and economic decision-making in their priority places).

For day 6 of my ’12 days of Christmas review and give-away’ bonanza the WWF were kind to donate a beautiful stag tote bag and an absolutely hand-warming cosy elephant mug, perfect for wrapping your hands around on a cold winter’s night.

The great thing about all the products you buy from the WWF shop is that you are not just getting great quality products, but that your money goes into helping fund the WWF in their amazing campaigns to protect and nurture this planet and the creatures we are here to be guardians of.

Porcelain Snuggle Mug (£7.94)

WWF Elephant Snuggle Mug
This is perfect for cold winter nights, warms the hands up lovely!

What attracted me to this mug straight away was the shape. Most mugs you buy are a certain shape, but this is so hand shaped and really is a snuggle mug. I love to sit on the sofa with a blanket, a hot chocolate and watch my favourite tv program or read a book with this mug. The well known WWF logo of the panda is neatly positioned inside the top of the mug and on the outside a lovely elephant family reminding me of what I am supporting with this mug, keeping elephants on this beautiful planet.

It is a good weight and feels hard-wearing. A perfect gift for a coffee, tea or warm drink lover who also likes to support the WWF and would love to know that the purchase went to support a good cause. It may look small but it holds as much coffee or tea as my large mug I normally use, this totally surprised me, but its wider base makes up the size.

Tote bag deer (£12.95)

Stag Deer Tote Bag from WWF

I love this cotton tote bag, it has come in so handy since I received it for review. I have taken it everywhere as it folds up into my handbag and is a really good size. With strong handles, and beautiful deer design, it is not only practical but very fashionable and in season. My sister who is a lot younger than me, admired this bag when I was catching up with her in my recent trip to York. I also popped this bag in the outer section of my suitcase when travelling to and from the airport and it was perfect for popping my heavy winter coat in for going through security so that I didn’t have to be weighed down with warm clothing.

Definitely animals, especially those that are nearly extinct. 🙁

  2. December 6, 2013 / 10:28 am

Rain forests – we need to slow down the destruction to ensure a healthy planet for our children

  3. December 6, 2013 / 10:42 am

Endangered animals – although naturally that's going to include loads of other habitat stuff, water and native cultures too…!

  4. December 6, 2013 / 11:38 am

I think forest and habitat conservation is very important, as well as protection from hunting/poachers.

  5. December 6, 2013 / 11:57 am

I think focus of endangered species – after all once they are gone, they are gone! Of course to address this habit conservation and a crack down of poaching is vital. This has to stop, it's just as much their planet as ours x

  6. December 6, 2013 / 11:59 am

Animals. Creating and protecting safe habitats to ensure survival and increase numbers of endangered species, working with local communities through education.

  7. December 6, 2013 / 1:01 pm

    Poachers in South Africa 🙁

  8. December 6, 2013 / 1:05 pm

animals… although sometimes you need to protect the habitat to save the creature, so a combination really

  9. December 6, 2013 / 1:25 pm

In my opinion you can't save one without saving the other as well. I think animals first though. It's a difficult question – something needs to be done!

  10. December 6, 2013 / 1:27 pm

i think we need to save the rainforests as they sustain life for so many creatures, they should stop cutting it down!

  11. December 6, 2013 / 1:31 pm

Animals. It saddens me that there are so many people who think humans are superior and that we have the right to do what we want to animals…we don't own animals! (signed in as scott broomhead on FB -my hubby)

  12. December 6, 2013 / 1:46 pm

Saving the rainforests means saving the world!!

  13. December 6, 2013 / 2:23 pm

I prefer the WWF to do what they're doing now and fight for all these causes. We need to survive holistically, with the planet and wild life saved. We need to make sure the planet stays worthy of saving.

  14. December 6, 2013 / 4:10 pm

Animals…I'm an animal lover and think WWF does a brilliant job in raising awareness of endangered species

  15. December 6, 2013 / 5:06 pm

Borneo to look after the orangutans

  16. December 6, 2013 / 6:20 pm

I'd like them to look after endangered species the most. and also to try to help keep our waters clean <3

  17. December 6, 2013 / 6:30 pm

WWF love animals and the snow leopards need saving

  18. December 6, 2013 / 6:36 pm

Animals because they are becoming distinct too quickly and I love them so much!

  19. December 6, 2013 / 8:33 pm

animals – because I love them.

  20. December 6, 2013 / 9:33 pm

animals – they deserve to be fought for.

  21. December 6, 2013 / 10:01 pm

It's impossible to concentrate efforts in just one area, it all needs fixing. 🙁

  22. December 6, 2013 / 10:26 pm

Best to intervene where humans are the problem – poaching, deforestation, etc. Anything else where man is not the problem should be left for nature to decide

  23. December 6, 2013 / 11:10 pm

    Poaching rhino & elephants

  24. December 6, 2013 / 11:45 pm

    native plants, animals

  25. December 6, 2013 / 11:54 pm

    animals

  26. December 7, 2013 / 7:36 pm

poaching & educating people how soon these animals could disappear – am particularly concerned about the use of animal parts in "medicine" or so called cures 🙁

  27. December 7, 2013 / 8:22 pm

Poaching,I think it's wrong and should be stopped

  28. December 7, 2013 / 8:59 pm

My favorite animal is the Siberian tiger, so I would love to see more protection for them in their natural habitat.

  29. December 9, 2013 / 8:19 am

I'd like them to look at areas which, due to population growth, are going to have a lot of pressure to produce food and set up sustainable, eco-friendly projects now, rather than trying to firefight later

  30. December 9, 2013 / 2:05 pm

    Animals

  31. December 10, 2013 / 3:24 pm

Deforestation and the plight of the Orangutangs, these gentle giants need our protection

  32. December 10, 2013 / 7:33 pm

More campaigning to stop humans destroying nature through deforestation, poaching, etc.

  33. December 13, 2013 / 1:30 pm

Animals and forests as they are both important

  34. December 15, 2013 / 4:08 pm

    Animals and their natural habitats

  35. December 16, 2013 / 8:45 pm

The amazon, its an amazing place and needs to stop being destroyed

  36. December 17, 2013 / 11:47 am

Animals and water. Life and quality of life are important. Water is required for life. Animals are part of nature.

  37. December 17, 2013 / 1:53 pm

    animals x

  38. December 18, 2013 / 9:14 am

it's so difficult to choose one thing over all the others! I want to see a stop to deforestation, particularly the rain forests of the world. I want to see fracking thrown out the window as it destroys landscapes, habitats and just about everything you see around you. I want to see the diverse cultures of this world honoured not abused. I want an end to religious/racial intolerance…the list is endless really…

  39. December 18, 2013 / 10:30 am

Poaching & the trade in these products need stopping.

  40. December 18, 2013 / 11:21 am

i would like the rain forests to be more protected because with out the forests we and all animals couldn't exist

  41. December 18, 2013 / 2:50 pm

Its to hard to choose one thing, all nature and animals are so important.

  42. December 18, 2013 / 3:32 pm

animals after a trip to india

  43. December 18, 2013 / 9:44 pm

animals to save them from extinction, and the rainforest because it could contain important things we don't know about yet – cures for disease etc

  44. December 18, 2013 / 11:03 pm

i think animals and forest, because with out the forest some animals wont live and animals because extinction is becoming more common

  45. December 19, 2013 / 12:59 am

    Forest

  46. December 19, 2013 / 9:20 am

Animals – I think they need the most protection – mainly from people!

  47. December 19, 2013 / 1:42 pm

I think that it would be a shame for them to concentrate on one particular area as conservation requires a holistic approach. Protecting the 'cuter' species from extinction would be pointless without attention paid to the habitats and eco-systems that support them, and the support and knowledge to the local populations to help tthem thrive

  48. December 19, 2013 / 2:05 pm

I think sometime the sealife gets forgotten about

  49. December 19, 2013 / 5:06 pm

Definitely the water. It breaks my heart when I hear stories about sealife getting killed with oil, or caught up in debris.

  50. December 19, 2013 / 9:11 pm

the habitat these animals nee some were to live that is safe from humans
